Fineprint

Ingredient label reader for iPhone

Point your camera at any ingredient label. Fineprint flags allergens, diets and additives for everyone you shop for.

Ingredients: oats, sugar, whey, sunflower oil, natural flavor. May contain peanuts.

Why Fineprint

Reads any label

Imports, bakery items, brand-new products. Fineprint reads what's printed, so it works where barcode apps say "product not found."

Knows what you scanned

Fineprint matches a label to its product, spots the barcode in your photo, and tells you when the database and your package disagree.

Private by design

Label reading happens on the iPhone, and photos and scans never leave it. An account is optional and only keeps your profiles.

Checks the whole family at once

One scan gives a verdict for each person, each with their own allergies and diets.

Catches "may contain"

Shared-facility and trace warnings are flagged too. Turn on strict mode and they become red flags.

Hears when a recipe changes

Save the products you trust. Fineprint checks them every day and tells you when the ingredients change.

Install the test build

Fineprint is in testing and installs with SideStore. Testers get the answer to the riddle from us.

Riddle

Install with SideStore
  1. Set up SideStore on your iPhone if you haven't.
  2. Open this page in Safari on the iPhone, answer the riddle, then tap Install with SideStore. The link works for 10 minutes.
  3. Turn on Developer Mode if iOS asks (Settings → Privacy & Security).
Apps installed with a free Apple ID expire after 7 days. Keep SideStore refreshing them. Subscriptions can't be bought in a test build. To try Plus or Family, use the test switch under Plan at the bottom of the home screen.

Fineprint is a second pair of eyes, not medical advice. Always read the package if an allergy is severe.
